⚠ COVID-19 Statement from Michael O LaGrone M.D.

March 19, 2020

Dear Patients,

Due to the ever-expanding threat from COVID-19, we are temporarily suspending all in-person appointments to protect our patients and staff and to help prevent the spread of the virus.

Our office will continue to operate virtually during our normal business hours.  This means our staff will be available by phone and email during this time but our physical office will be closed. Prescriptions will continue to be refilled per our current office policy.  Patient appointments will be conducted through telemedicine.  (More on telemedicine below)

Patients with existing appointments will be contacted by our staff in the coming days with information on rescheduling.

In response to Gov. Greg Abbott’s COVID-19 “state of disaster” declaration last Friday, the Texas Medical Board has taken several steps to help Texas physicians safely and effectively care for patients. Those actions include expanding the use of telemedicine. Telemedicine is the remote diagnosis and treatment of patients by means of telecommunications technology.  This can be done via phone or video conferencing. Our office will be initiating a telemedicine portal for virtual office visits. We will start with post-op patients and existing patients that require more immediate attention. Ultimately, we hope to be able to see new patients for initial consultation and recommendations. Details regarding our telemedicine process will be sent to patients as those appointment are scheduled.

State and local hospitals are accelerating their preparations for the coronavirus, in part by asking patients to postpone elective surgeries.  This could affect any upcoming surgeries you may have scheduled.  If you have a surgery previously scheduled, you will be contacted by our office in the coming days with more information.

We apologize for any inconvenience this action causes for our patients and families. These are very difficult times and we want to be proactive in protecting our patients and staff and hopefully assist in the process of slowing down the spread of COVID-19.

If you have any further question or concerns, please contact our office at (806) 354-2529.
